Good visuals, good story, very good chemistry between the couple, but I have to say: I am tired of seeing BDSM portrayed in film and literature as a coping mechanism for child abuse, rape, sexual assault, grief, you name it. I am sorry to ruin it for all of you but the majority of the people who are part of the BDSM community are part of it by choice, not by some kind of subconscious force. This is not the default, this is the exception.
But, oh well, let’s accept this stereotype because it is more convenient for us to believe that someone is “into this type of sh!t” due to trauma and a mental illness, rather than due to sheer preference, rather than accepting the variability of human sexuality and curiosity, rather than accepting people’s stupid need to copy every single thing they watch in porn so they can feel sexually capable. I don’t know how this guy expects people to take his “pure” purpose seriously.
